Ray was raised on a small farm near his hometown of El Dorado Springs in southwest Missouri. In high school, Ray was active in Vo Ag and FFA, and participated in district and state judging contests. He received a BS degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Missouri. Immediately after college, he began working at the Sinclair Comparative Medicine Research Farm and continued there for 20 years, with 15 years spent as a Farm Supervisor. Ray then worked for Research Support Services (now Field Operations), until receiving the Farm Supervisor position at HARC. Ray has served at HARC for nearly seven years, and enjoys the new challenges each day brings -- especially in the supervision of research support activities and personnel, maintenance of buildings, grounds, machinery, equipment and vehicles. He credits the entire HARC team for meeting research challenges and maintaining a beautiful facility. Ray's goal as HARC continues to develop is to make the farm an even more beautiful and efficient research center.
