Pine straw, the naturally shed needles of pine trees, is an excellent, renewable mulch and among the research project areas of the Center for Agroforestry. Demonstrations of pine straw and other products produced through agroforestry practices are included in the annual event. Guests can see these projects first-hand on guided HARC farm tours throughout the day.
